ZenThai Shiatsu Therapy
What is Zenthai Shiatsu?
Zenthai Shiatsu is a movement-based therapy that combines focused intention with techniques from Zen Shiatsu, Traditional Thai Massage, and Osteopathy. It’s designed to support both the structural and energetic aspects of the body.
At its core, Zenthai Shiatsu is based on the flow of blood, Ki (energy), and nerve pathways – the internal pathways that keep the body in balance. Your doctor might refer to these as arterial flow or nerve pathways, while an alternative practitioner might describe them as the “river of life,” the vital flow that keeps us healthy and energized.
When this flow is blocked, whether through physical or emotional trauma, poor posture, or external factors like pathogens, the body’s natural healing abilities can become challenged. This blockage often leads to pain, low energy, and a general sense of not feeling well. The body is essentially calling out for support.
Zenthai Shiatsu works by addressing these blockages and imbalances using a combination of approaches:
- Zen Shiatsu (based on Traditional Chinese Medicine): This includes acupressure and techniques like cupping, moxibustion, and lifestyle/food advice, all aimed at restoring energy flow.
- Traditional Thai Massage: Focuses on releasing muscular tension and energetic blockages, improving flexibility and mobility.
- Osteopathy: Includes joint mobilization and techniques for unwinding fascia and connective tissue patterns to restore balance in the body.
Each Zenthai Shiatsu session is tailored to the individual’s needs, helping with conditions such as:
- Lower back, knee, neck and shoulder pain
- Digestive issues
- Joint mobilization
- Energy depletion
- Immune system support
Zenthai Shiatsu is a deeply supportive therapy that helps restore the free flow of energy and blood in the body, promoting overall health, vitality, and a sense of well-being.
Sessions happen on a mat on the floor and you remain fully clothed.
